Land of the Uncouth

Dato Mohd Said 'Close One Eye' Yusof, MP for Jasin

Bung Mokhtar, MP for Kinabatangan

What on earth is happening? Has crudeness and uncouthness now become the norm? Has Mat Rempitism infected everyone, especially politicians? What possessed the MPs for Jasin and Kinabatangan to stoop this low?

You think their mothers are proud of them?

well... sad to say, seems like yes, crudeness and uncouthness has become the norm among the MPs. this was not the first time such sexist remarks were made in parliament.

sadder still to hear this:

Sis,

What to expect from Half pass six representatives. Seeing them debating in Parliament is more or less like seeing the circus’s clown.

This is the kind of sick, careless humour that passes around as wit among certain categories of Malaysian males.

At the expense of being labelled a frigid old female fart, I condemn such insolent and unthinking behaviour especially among MPs - our supposed representatives and therefore role models!

This is the kind of tomfoolery that abounds among men who snigger about polygamy and their Quran-given "rights"; who believe in women's unequal standing; or perceive women as inviting rape and sexual abuse!

Women must stand up to these dregs of society and condemn their uncouth and impudent behaviour. If the remarks come from MPs they should be chastised by the top leadership.

We cannot have these political mouthpieces, fathers, brothers and husbands perpetuating such high-handed, sexist behaviour. These are the very men our boys and girls look up to as male role models.

Can you then blame the impertinence and insolence of youth!!!

If I remember right, these extremely offensive and sexist remarks are pretty much uttered at each sitting. How soon we forget the one about women like toilets or something like that that an MP uttered last year. Don’t they realise that they are disrespecting their own mother, wife, daughter, granddaughter? It simply reflects the poor quality of our elected MPs. They cannot argue on points, therefore they take it a notch down and get personal. Shame on BN women MP who don’t stand up for womanhood. There should be some bipartisanship for women in legislature to stand up for women’s rights. But then this is Malaysia. Sigh.

Thier mother may not be proud with them on this issue but is proud with them on so many other matters. What does that mean then?

Dear Marina

Good For You to highlight on these two MPs. Have been pissed off by their crude behaviour for sometimes. Really, most of the time, their perangai are worse than primary school kids. Memang “kurang ajar dan samseng”. In fact ada banyak lagi MPs yang far-far from professional dan sangat2 memalukan.

They think they OWN the parliament. A real embarassment whenever they open their big mouth! Buat malu orang Melayu/Islam.

Thanks for the opportunity to let out some steam.

Kak Ainon.

Sad but this is how it is.
We have ill-mannered, uneducated MPs 'fighting' for us in the Parliament. GREAT!

Is there any online petition that we can sign and protest. Even then, whether the people in power will even bother to take a look at it is another issue.

This blog-petition idea is brilliant Gusti Adipati! ALL-BLOGS please check out its legality and get the mechanism in place!

I think Barisan is very proud of the thugs representing them in Parliament. Well done Barisan.

Not surprise at all with the sicko MPs with no sense of shame.

I bet these two are held up as heroes by their party delegates and constituents. That's how they got to stand as candidates.

BN women MPs have no scruples. They don't stand up for principles. If you were to ask any one of them to comment, they would say it's only a small molehill. Issue has been blown out of proportion.

They might even suggest to ignore sexist slurs.

If silence means consent, then they have inadvertently reaffirmed it's ok to insult women, their mothers and daughters.

It seems that lately our MPs have been showing more of the true natures and selves, unfortunately the MPs concerned are from the ruling party. Mind you, this behaviour is not just confined within the country. There has been at least one who recently went overseas and insulted another Malaysian about her race and lectured about the particular race's different types and status in society. What a clown he has turned out to be !! The latest i heard is that it was all said in JEST ! hOW CONVENIENT and typical.
Dont be surprised if the latest two also say it was all said in JEST!

their mothers may not be proud of them, but what of all women and mothers out there? the ones within an earshot, the ones who read the news, watch the video, the press that carried the news? are we too tired to protest or too jaded to be surprised? i know we often say "we shouldn't be surprised anymore..." but perhaps we need always feel surprise and indignation because we ought always demand more from those who have been elected to office. the lack of censure is a downright shame and a continuing affront to the office of a parlimentarian all all right thinking persons.

Don't be surprised if these two clowns get elected as MPs again. Don't be surprised if the women in their constituencies vote for them.
Why didn't the women MPs in the Barisan condemn them and ask for an apology?
Why did the BN MPs thump the tables in glee when the Speaker rejected DAP motion to sanction them?
When didn't the speaker request the two clowns to apologise?
Why didn't The Star and the NST highlight this incident when it happened? (They only carried the reaction stories).
The answers to all the above only go to show the moral malaise this country is in.
This nation is sick!!!!

I happen to on the You-Tube video (from jeff ooi blog) in front of my 12 year old son - he thought I was joking when I told him that it was a recording of the goings on in our parliament!

Does the speaker need to refer to any book or by-laws to make a ruling on this? Or are they something he uses every time he wants to defend the govt MP's?

Anonymous said...

If the spineless female BN MPs cant stand up for themselves, do you expect to stand up for you?
Meantime, two other male monkeys have joined the club for defending them by saying that their comments are not demeaning and meant as a joke. Volunteers needed as zookeepers to take care of the growing monkey community in the Parliament. Any takers?

this always happens when you "close one eye" and "bung" it up.

i'm almost embarrassed to wonder if they speak to or kiss their mums, wives and daughters (if any) with the filth that they spew in public.

There is only one phrase in Bahasa, not found in other languages that sufficiently reflect and describe the intense disgust for the sickening attitude of these two MPs in Parliament:

BETUL BETUL KURANG AJAR

Anonymous said...

I don't get it. Really. How in the world did such idiotic, not to mention sexist, people get to be representatives of the BN?

Have they totally no shame at all? Do they think of everything as just a joke? It's pathetic, that's what it is.

And shame on the woman representatives of BN. Why don't they even want to stand up for themselves? Because they're cowards, that's what they are.

Shame on them! If BN wins the next election, M'sia has officialy gone off their rockers!

Have your say on this issue here…
I have created an online petition to collate our opinions and perhaps, MAY BE, attract the necessary people's attention. If they know how to switch on the PC, proceed to log in, open the IE and get themselves to the online petition below. Of course, that is after they figure out how to use the internet and understand the difference between Dial-Up and ADSL broadband. So God Bless Them.

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/whymycountry/?e

Whether this petition makes its impact or not, is the secondary question. Right now, have your say!

Thanks Gusti! Everyone, do take a look at the petition and have your say.

Totally agree with Mr Smith. This country's sick as reflected by such leadership (if we can call them our 'leaders'). As such, can we expect better behavior from those working below them, like what happened recently in Ijok? Like the rempits out on our public roads? Like some of their VIP outriders who act arrogantly while rushing through traffic? And lots more....

This country will not tolerate sexism regardless of what race, religion, age or political beliefs. No way, these people must go down.

Malaysia Boleh!!

What a joke. If these MP's can get away with this, Malaysia will trully be a laughing stock in the civilised world.

Hi Marina,

I am a orang Sungai from Kinabatangan. He really is an embrassement to all of us in Kinabatangan! He is yet to address many pressing and important issues in Kinabatangan. He is nothing and not important to orang Sungai anymore.
