Post-Op, Day 3 --late Update

Fri night : Just came back from the solat hajat/doa selamat at Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan. More than 300 people turned up and the food ran out so very sorry to those who didn't get any. Nice to meet some of my new commenters, especially Teliung. Really very nice of you all to travel all the way there to be with us.

Coming back to IJN to spend another night with Mum, I bumped into one of the surgeons. He's very pleased with how Dad is doing, says "all the numbers are going the right way". Grin from ear to ear. Same with me...

Since today we got to meet some of the Muslim wellwishers at the mosque, my family and I would now like to invite the non-Muslim wellwishers to a special multifaith doa selamat we are having on Sunday Sept 9 at Blog House, 66, Lorong Setiabistari 2, Damansara Heights. the programme will go as follows:

7pm Arrival of everyone who'd like to come

7.15 pm Maghrib prayers for Muslims led by Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf

7.30pm Prayers by representatives of Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh and Baha'i faiths.

8.15pm Dinner is served.

Thus far, Archbishop Murphy Packiam representing the Christian community and His Holiness Swami Samyam Ananda representing the Hindu community have confirmed they will recite their respective prayers. Am still waiting for names of those representing the other faiths. It'll be very simple, just to say thanks to God for bestowing His blessings on my Dad with this successful operation, and for us to say thanks to everyone for praying for him too. So if you're free, please do come.

My thanks to Rocky and All-Blogs for the loan of Blog House.

Marina,

Can I, a Malaysian non-Muslim, attend the Muslim prayer as well as those of the others for a common thanks giving and a celebration for the good health of your dad?

Dear Marina,

So glad to know that your dad is doing fine post surgery.

We certainly hope that he will recover fully in no time.

Hi marina,
greetings from a lurker in SF! Wanted to wish your dad well (I shook his hand once at an MRCS fund-raising concert oh so long ago in KL) and also to express my utmost appreciation for sharing your thoughts and insights into your personal and professional life. I am in such awe. I can't imagine Chelsea Clinton or any of the ex-presidential children hosting such a blog and bring so candid and accessible. There is indeed hope for Malaysia.
When I read your comments about your Dad having really great genes and a healthy lifestyle (I had been wondering about that); I couldnt help but be struck by the paradox of doing everything right and yet not immune to heart disease. Of course there is the genetic component as well, one could have good genes that affects the body in positive ways but does nothing to stop the build-up of plaque in the arteries. Such is the irony of life.
I would love to attend the doa selamat this Sunday but I have this Merdeka picnic to go to. Then there is the distance of course. I do hope to meet you on my next sojourn to KL, possibly early next year.
All the best,
Mary

I can understand how dear your dad is to you as I lost my own dad recently. Please send my best wishes to your dad. It is very wise for you to organise a prayer session which consists of people of all faiths. All Malaysian, in particular Muslim of this country should have this 'gesture' of you and Haris Ibrahim of http://harismibrahim.wordpress.com/ All of us should have the right thinking of Haris Ibrahim.

Paul Warren, you are welcome to come at 7pm. Maghrib prayers are at 7.15 or so and we will be performing them inside the house but easily visible and audible to everyone else who will be sitting just outside. Then we'll come out and continue with the rest of the programme. So really up to everyone, though it would be nice to have everyone there from the beginning which is around 7pm.

Imam Feisal will also speak at the end of the multifaith prayer session just to round it all up.

Thanks and hope to see you.

Marina,

It is comforting to hear that our Tun is recovering well. We will continue to pray for him tho' many of us are not able to join you at Bloghouse.

Tun is father to us, as much as it is to you.
