I don't know about you guys but I really can't keep up anymore with what's happening. With all these endless statutory declarations, police report after police report, statements hither and thither, I can't get any of it straight anymore. Who did what to whom? Who has been plotting to do what to whom? Who hates who, who loves who? Sorry, I don't know anymore. I'd rather watch CSI frankly (or rather, right now, Wimbledon, which has just as much drama. Go Zheng Jie! )
While everyone bickers, admits, gossips, analyses, rumourmongers (the latest I heard today was that I was the last to hear that my Dad had had a heart attack...), I have a life to lead. I have a daughter who's turning 9 tomorrow and who has very set ideas about how she intends to celebrate it. I have columns and papers to write, a conference and a fundraiser to organise, people I need to talk to and decisions to make. At the same time, I have a home to run, kids whose studies I need to keep a watchful eye over, a husband who also needs attention and a small circle of friends I run to for support. I am just busy. With a capital B.
So I don't have time to keep up with all these shenanigans. The other day I went to fill up my car's petrol tank and thought there was something wrong with the counter showing the price at the petrol pump because it kept going on and on and didn't stop until it got to a ridiculous sum. Even the petrol pump attendant looked apologetic but it wasn't his fault. That is the price of petrol these days.
At home I find myself doling out money more frequently for my cook to buy groceries. Are we eating more or do things just cost more? I find myself rushing by the windows of boutiques so that I won't be tempted to go in and buy anything unnecessary. The only indulgence I allowed myself recently was lip gloss which somehow cheers me up.
I have to buy air tickets often because we are a two-country family and I also have to travel for work. These days what you pay for the surcharges and taxes would have bought you a seat on a pretty long flight not too long ago. I feel guilty about my carbon footprint but unfortunately I can neither sail nor bicycle to where I need to go. What to do?
So I think I will just go on strike. From reading the news. From being interested in what politicians are up to. From the so-called analyses of what's happening by people who don't really know anything. From the unceasing speculation. I don't know anything at all and I'm quite happy to admit that. And I don't care to offer an opinion either. I just have more important things to do in my life. And I will blog about things that I hope will make us smarter, not stupider.
Today the one thing that made me feel good was this: I went to eat at a restaurant in the basement of one of our big malls. The waiter asked me if I was who he thought I was. I admitted tis was me. And he said, "I know you because my cousin has HIV."
I'm not happy because his cousin has HIV but because he felt he could tell me that. And also because, as hubby pointed out, him acknowledging his cousin must mean he hasn't rejected him. One small victory against stigma and discrimination. I count these little blessings in our bleak landscape.
I feel the same way as you! In this difficult time (petrol/food prices, uncertain economy, etc) we really need our leaders (and wannabe leaders) to just go about with the business of running the country.
ReplyDeleteI am also on strike from reading/watching news, at least for the next 24-48 hours!
hello Marina ...
ReplyDeletelike you i'm tired too .. of what is happening .. and the news seems there are no good news any longer in malaysia. no glimmer of hope even how i wish i had migrated to australia/ nz like what my other mates suggested i do some time ago .. they saw what was coming and they were clever enough to make the right decision for their own sake and their family. but i stayed back .. frustrated i am with what is happening to malaysia and it seems we are facing a national crisis / a confidence crisis where the struggle of our forefathers 50 years ago will be destroyed by a few idiots running this country ... and we have to pay for their 'sins' and their appetite for power and lust for money. the judiciary, the executive and the legislature seems to be in chaos .. i hv lost confidence and hope in malaysia and i fear for the future. i think there should be a 'solidarity' link from East to West Malaysia in demanding for a 'new' malaysia even if it means TDM being asked to lead yet again Malaysia as PM. at least we have some 'order', and stability in the country compared to AAB !! ...
"The only indulgence I allowed myself recently was lip gloss which somehow cheers me up."
ReplyDeleteReminds me of something my friend's 6-year old daughter said today after she had her nails painted and adorned with butterfly stickers.
"My nails make me want to be nicer to everybody."
We women are so simple like that...
Dear Marina
ReplyDeleteWe are all, I think, already exhausted by the stream of sensational events since GE 2008. But, there is a struggle going on here that will determine the direction M'sia will take.
Two roads. One will lead to fame and fortune and the other to unremitting disaster.
For ordinary people like me, struggling with increasing cost of living, fuel, inflation and worrying about how we are going to balance our budgets & put our children through Uni,we too would like to go on strike.
Would that it were that simple. Freedom and prosperity always comes with a price. And that means it is dangerous to sit on the fence.
My view - we need a change, if not at least for change's sake, then from a system of government that is slowly and irretrievably breaking down.
There is not a single institution that is not under attack which today is unable to defend itself well from public perception that its integrity is suspect- the Executive, Royalty, Judiciary, Police, AG's office, you name it!
So, I am afraid it's going to get a lot worse before it gets a lot better! Such a pity.

I gave up watching General Hospital ... Started reading blogs ... endless drama!
ReplyDeleteYou should see the grey on my hair. I used to be decently handsome, I think, until my 11 yrs old son commented on my dressing doesn't befits my age.
ReplyDeleteHey,hey! I'm in my early 40's but the strain being only breadwinner in the house and with 5 kids to raise, age does catch up quite fast than I realized.
And the 'circus out there' right now doesn't help either.
MM, im sure ur not the only one. I try to keep up with all the news back home but its worse than Dynasty and Wisteria Lane combined! Like u said it urself, its impossible to keep track the whos, hows, whats and whens.
ReplyDeleteIm waiting for The Closer to be back on air mid this month and would be wishing that we have somebody like her in our country. ;)

ReplyDeleteIf u goes to the street let me know.
If u feel the pinch for groceries i am a bit - dont believe u.
rajraman666.The devil sometimes pay a visit.dont worry i just kacau devil.
Hi Marina,
ReplyDeleteI couldn't disagree with you more. All these political scenarios are interesting stories, but the deeper we search for the truth/lies (I can't even tell now which is which!), the lesser we get the actual fact. As far as I'm concerned, your dad's blog is the only political analysis I rely on.
Do you think I can just ignore all these and concentrate to enjoying my life with my family?
I'm gonna try it.
Maybe we all should do the same thing rite?
But then who would second Che Det's opinion and principles?
Arggh!!
i totally agree....
ReplyDeleteused to follow malaysian news..politics and all but its just so full of s**t these days.
nobody seems to care about what's going through the 'normal' lay person's life...its all about our 'leaders' and politics....
gosh who put them in power in the first place....
"don't change kena, change also kena" *shakes head
wonder if i can live in a virtual world only where prices of EVERYTHING does not depend on oil and 'leaders' don't bicker which each other by pulling out trump cards one after another and start looking at the big picture????
there shall be hope.....only thing i can do is PRAY...God Bless
Datin,
ReplyDeleteFinally you realise what kind of life the rakyat biasa are facing now, at least you are lucky that your financial background will be more than enough for you and your generation, not like many others who kais pagi makan pagi, kais petang makan petang... If you also feel how bad the situation is now, rakyat biasa lagi menderita....
Politik Malaysia amat memalukan, memalukan negara, memalukan bangsa, memalukan agama....
My Danish friends and colleagues are wondering why Malaysian police and politician have never finished their SODOMY cases, i have rested my case and never bother to explain to them...
Please tell your DAD that whatever he still has, use it to try fix the situation...
Thank you!!
Just don't know who and how to believe anymore..! We have so many beauties to show and tell about our country, but the political uglyness cover it all...how's sad it is...
ReplyDelete(Love to watching Asian Food Channel....)
Agree with you Kak.
ReplyDeleteLucky for me my h/p decided to go to the bottom of South China Sea. So totally cut off from "SMSed" cos lost all the contact list. Gonna go on strike too.
Happy bithday to the princess Kak.
Adios.
I'm so so sad to see my beloved Malaysia going to the dogs because our politicians have absolutely no integrity or scruples!!!
ReplyDeletei hear you!!! i stopped reading papers looooongggggg ago. the only news update i hear is via the radio.thats good enough for me.=)
ReplyDeleteYou can't be serious about not caring on what happening in the country right now. It just didn't happen overnight you know. Infact, it probably started about 10 years ago, when we know who was in power...
ReplyDeleteMarina, am with you on this. You know, if u were complaint abt the difficulties to live decently nowadays, can u imagine the rest of us who is not so fortunate to come from a filthy rich family?
ReplyDeleteIt's really like "kais sebulan makan sebulan" kinda thing! I wish I have the power to go and slap those leaders so that they could come back to their senses and tackle "real" issues. Rakyat are suffering - big time! We couldn't care less about their sins, they just have to deal with that separately with God in the life Thereafter. We just need them to do their responsibilities to rakyat, that's all! And that's why we chose them in the first place! This is not their country, for God sake! Wake up, please!!!
We are leaving for the Rainforest festival in Kuching next week. DPMM, you should go there and take a break too ... (was there a couple of years back n it was real fun)
ReplyDeletep/s FOC 3-day ticket for you. Courtesy of Dr.M supporters club.
Dear MM,
ReplyDeleteI feel the same too. Now cost of living is really taking a toll on everyone and no news is good news. Happy Birthday to your kiddo too! hope when she grows up she won't have to face all these sickening headlines anymore!
Dear Datin Paduka,
ReplyDeleteIndeed, I have to response to your article in the Star on this matter. My hubby feels so betrayed by our politicians, either BN or BA, that he declares himself stateless/ countryless (if there is such a word).
So, to be sane, just distanced yourself from the political scenario that has befallen our beloved country. Gone were the days when we could be proud to be Malaysians!!!
To amir fuad...
ReplyDeleteIt's not even "uncertain economy"... It's real bad economy... :)
===================================
Happy Birthday to your daughter... :) (is it shasha?)
As for carbon footprint... you can buy some carbon credit to offset your footprint... :P (well some of those money may end up coming back into a forest in Sabah...) but then it means you cost more money... :P
anyway... I've been anti-news these days... too tired... and I guess I spent too much time following the news that I forgot about my work!
And the plots get more and more ridiculous... and the leaders and those leaders-in-waiting and those cant-wait-to-be leaders... looks like they are enjoying in leading the show...
pissed....
Dear DPMM,
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more with what u said..lets us all go on a strike!
Don't do anything!..hahaha
lord musan
p/s just like you and many others..i really don't know what to actually do now...only deep urges to go meet and give him a very tight slap on his left and right cheeks..the PM i mean(...already asked that favor from your dad though!)
After making(milking?) zillions from the sweat and tears of ordinary Malaysians, you are griping? Come on.Hypocrisy at its best or is it worst.
ReplyDeleteDid you mention that your kids go to private schools and hey what happened to that yacht you were holidaying on?
Many of us share your views, DMM, because the state of affairs in our country are making it totally impossible for us to feel anything but good anymore.
ReplyDeleteFor sometime back, I was delighted to learn that there were no more rumours of Malaysians "migrating" - for their children's future. Unfortunately, in the past year, this has become the reason for so many once contented Malaysians to think of leaving. Its sad, very sad indeed!
Elizabeth
With so much drama happening someone can go to sleep again. I wish to go on strike and just indulge in a little pampering of a foot massage before the price goes up.
ReplyDeleteDear Marina,
ReplyDeleteI am on 'strike' too.Me and my wife are looking for a joint that serves authentic 'Nyonya Curry Laksa' and we just refuse to read or hear any news today. Any suggestion where? My eldest son kiss me on the cheek before he went off to college this morning... while I was playing soccer with my one year old son... now, life can be wonderful if you let it be.
Can agree with you more, MM.
ReplyDeleteOne has to wonder if anyone is minding the country at all.
I'm totally 100% agreed!!!!But I'm still gonna watch the news...well maybe not "local" news...To bad Zheng Jie lost! I'm happy for Ingrid Betancourt finally save from FARC rebel and fuel price is going up again, towards USD150. Plus I have to think how much money I have to spend today to pay for food and fuel!!! Well, KK is not KL. We don't have LRT, monorail and RapidKL, we only have mini buses with no aircond....

ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your beloved daughter SHASHA.
ReplyDeleteCoincidently it's my daughter
(10th) birthdy too. 4th.July what a day.
Know what she insist on PS3 for her birthday present.
Gosh children nowadays.
Yup yup it's my fault for not educating her. She is the only jewel I have, what can I do.
Hi MM,
ReplyDeleteFirstly happy birthday to your nine year old, in Holland, we congratulate the parents. So, congratulations! Hopefully she has a great day.
Speaking of set ideas, my soon to be 3 year old has declared she wants a fairy party, fairy cake, fairy dress etc. for her third birthday bash!
I don't know how you juggle between all your responsibilities, but I've been told (by the wife) that women are just GREAT multitaskers and time managers. As an employer, I don't disagree.
Maybe it's time to hand over the governance of this beautiful country to the more competent sex, what with all the snafu that's going on in Malaysian poli-tricks.
There's this theory that women, having been blessed with gift of childbirth, are inherently more compassionate and place a high value on human life and the environment. In addition, they have strong humanistic qualities such as sacrifice, perseverance, resourcefulness and of course, thriftiness.
Marina?
True. The Malaysian politics is getting over the board with all the statutory declaration and stuff. But, looking at the positive side, we are living in an exciting period don't we. There is never a dull moment in the news nowadays. Full of drama :)
ReplyDeleteHawk Tan,
ReplyDeleteInstead of spending the $ on a PS3 for your princess, you can throw a small home party with the same amount of money. Request your party guests to each bring a toy or book or something that you can all donate to the less fortunate. That will be a better cause and makes the world a better place to live. It also makes the birthday celebration more meaningful and can be cherished for long time.
That is how we teach our kids nowadays, not spoil them with toys or gadgets that bring temporary happiness.
I agree with you. The economy is at a standstill and inflation is out of control but our politicians, those we have just voted in in March, are too busy still playing politics. They are too caught up in generating rumours, believing rumours (SD raised one day and withdrawn the next), accusing each other of cover ups that one wonders, who is running the country? 100 days have passed and very few concrete stuff have been executed.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I should stop reading some of the blogs. A holiday sounds good.
Cheers.
With the recent rise in petrol price and the electricity tarrif, me and my family just could not know when we could go back to the 'good old days'.
ReplyDeleteToday's 8.00pm prime news on tv makes me sick and undermined my intelligence. I just don't know what to believe anymore.
Right now, I just want to go somewhere with my lovely wife and my two darling daughters..... far, far away from this mad, mad, mad situation..... with NO newspapers, NO TV and NO POLITICIANS!
Haiz.........

YOU ARE A VERY KIND MAN, MAY YOU BE BLESSED WITH PEACE, EXCELLENT HEALTH & LOTS OF LOVE.
what's make a man.. a man or what's make a person, a person. The choices the person make,
ReplyDeleteand not the decision that matter but how they execute and how the decision ends- hellboy/super sapien
melayu dah lama mati apabila kehendak diri melebihi kehendak bangsa.
melayu bukan pada bangsa tapi pada diri.
kalau cuba memahami kelompok melayu serupalah seperti nak memahami diri.
kalau kecewa dan tidak paham pada melayu serupalah tak paham pada diri.
melayu, kerana itu, sudah lama mati.
yang tinggal hanyalah harapan dan angan angan untuk terus hidup.
in an environment where everything else is futile, hope brings the aspiration to move forward.
jadi pedang.jihad@gmail.com cari dan bina hidup melalui harapan/angan angan dan kamu akan jumpa melayu kamu itu dan melayu untuk kami semua.
I too am taking a break from all these roller coaster SDs.
ReplyDeleteAs for inflation,
I think govt and the MPs should be more busy working for the country and challenges it might face in the turbulent world economic condiotion ahead. All this mud slinging and power grabbing is enuff, and I also want people to stop talking of it.
Whats important here is the country's economy and future.
I know petrol price is pinching us.
But I am happy to an extent it will generate conciousness of the Energy we spent trivially.
I actually bought a new Bicycle which I use for Errands to a small grocery or nearby kiosks. Its much fun actually.
I hope this atleast inculcates healthy habits which protects our environment to some extent.
Oil price rise is inevitable for the world. and I hope this makes us turn to good alternative energy.
Midnight blue
ReplyDeleteWalking on the roads
Listen to the insects
Flying along with me
Trying hard to remember
Why the politicians never get it right?
Lies after lies they brew to the people
Why can’t they tell the truth for once?
The silent wind blowing
Rising cool effect feeling chill
Yet on the silent roads
Dogs and cats roam
In the newspapers headlines
‘Heads On and PI retracts’
The truth becomes real
As the sound lingering louder
I turn around jump onto the side road
Cursing expletives shouting until I am coarse
Yet I am alive…………..walking on the street
Midnight blue
I see lovers in the dark bushes
Will they know what will happen?
Laws have no eyes and ears
When it comes severe punishment rules
As I walk
My mind drumming it away
Oh midnight blue……..
Life is full of hope
You can’t take it
Not for millions years
Yess Marina... I say like want to quit from hearing all the disgusting about our own politicians. Yepp, The were slightly no good news to hear and like wise all the bad news is really tormenting us and more over in this kind of situation. perhaps, as suggested from one of the reader, migrating is one of the alternative...
ReplyDeleteHate this recent day...can hold the barrier no longer
doesnt matter who'll win in their political war. but rakyat lose and suffered countless

ReplyDeletePower hungry, corrupted, megalomaniacal.
It's a good thing your daddy dearest stepped down when he did (though he still isn't keeping his promise of not involving himself in politics).
I mean, look at his bestest friend in the whole world now...Mugabe.
World pariah.
Despot.
Crackhead.
Good friends to have, these.
I share your posting. I,too , am confused as to who to believe. The political leaders seem to be too engrossed with plotting to get at each others's throats. Seem we are practicing the law of the jungle, the battle of the fittest. Me too is tired of spying , should take a rest and lets dwell on how to save our populace from AIDS!!! I think the government is not serious in tackling this grave problem, good ridden probably !! Less people more share. Let's hear more about your work, Marina!!
ReplyDeleteWith all these going on, sometimes we really hoped that we could change things for the better. But more often than not, we are just one. As Gandhi said: Be the change you want the world to see. I guess we could try from changing ourselves.
ReplyDeletefirst like this? then like that? after that it's this and that or that and this!!Fingerz Pointing everywhere!(Except to themselves)
ReplyDeleteHe did this! he did that! Everyone is equally bad except me?
So i'll agree to your first paragraph..!! :) "when u said i don't know anymore!"....
I wonder how Big Boys have so much time these days to play "police&ThieF-"like kanak-kanak ribena!, while people in the country strive hard to earn a living and make the best out of life.
With Great power comes great responsibilities not great games!!
Whatever said and done, with the leadership, hardwork, passion. strength and whatever it is our forefathers including Tun Dr.M did, they brought us to independence and They put us (MALAYSIA-NS) on the WORLD MAP- We've got F1-Sepang!! :) , Twin-Towers and all the rest as you know, they are leaders who left a legacy, something malaysians are proud to talk about....your not proud to say u have one of the best F1 circuits in the world or a sexy lovely twin tower in the heart of town?
Hmmm.... God bless all!
Gonna have some snacks..hmmm CSI sounds good tho..but looking out for grey anatomy! hehehe...
Petrol!Huh..don't mention it...hehehe i really don't know to laugh or cry...when i'm filling petrol... hmm funny,Numbers in the machine keep running as normal, petrol still goes in, litres shown very much less, ringgit shown very much more! and what happens? lunch eat less (work with a hungry croaking stomach!), don't use tol-a lot of time to waste in traffic jams what right? don't accelarate down hill(save petrol)....lots more...salary wise? haha yeah keeping looking at the sky!
ReplyDeleteHmmm it wasn't that bad before right? Life was good back then...well at the very least lunch was good (during working weeks)..... hmmmm..
Dear, DPMM wishing ur daughter a blessed and wonderful birthday and god bless you and your family :)
P/S:- Btw people i'm still new to this blogging thinggy, so kalau ada silap minta maaf! :)

You are right..
ReplyDeleteNowdays the politics even worst than pig farm..

ReplyDeleteMalaysia Circus Politics: Bloggers Declare Strike-Disgust
Mrs Marina,
ReplyDeleteIt seems you got a load of YES Ma'am, Yes Ma'am, Yes Ma'am and we will follow you to the grave lol...
I disagree with your protest... it doesnt make any sense, what Malaysians need is TRUTH, and to turn around this country fm BNs crap. I rather give PR an opportunity to rule than the current band of donkeys.
To all you Yes Ma'ams, pls use your own "CONSCIOUSNESS" on any matter/subject.
Oh, btw I DONT BELONG TO ANY PARTY/GROUPS/NGOs! Bunch of Hippocreates.
shaolm
.... and thats just what the politicians want you to do. Go on strike, bury your head in the sand again so that they can continue to ride rough shod over the electorate and do exactly what they please
ReplyDeleteAfter 50 years of submission Malaysians are finally coming to realise that its their country and it their right to rule it
Instead of going on strike you should be screaming at Badawi to take control of the country... to take control of its economy and to reprimand those spoilt little brats you call politicians
i can't agree more with you..
ReplyDeletethose issues are a lot too much for my mind to digest.. it is like wasting valuable storage space in my brain hard disk.. i think i got to do a disk cleanup ;p..
just to inform you that i linked to your post in my entry..
Malaysia is really going down the drain. Hopeless, corrupt and incompetent leaders, we have!
ReplyDeleteDear Marina
ReplyDeleteI understand your frustrations of the recent postings in Malaysia Today website; indeed, this whole Althantuya murderers & Anwar sodomy case has gone too far.
I too feel mentally exhausted when things keep beating around the bush, fingers pointing here and there, denials one after another, bloggers keep throwing darts at each other-stuff like that. "Meluat" is the word. We aren't getting anywhere by doing this.
Personally, I believe that the mainstream MEDIA should not have given too much emphasis on both high-profile cases. Look at the papers...first page headlines each day. This is rather sickening.
Thus, I'm joining you, Rocky and other bloggers in this hopefully temporary strike and focus on more productive work.
Bloggers & Commentors,
ReplyDeleteYou got a problem with Marina dad, kindly express it in her dad's blog. www.chedet.com
Though I understand your sentiment, it is certainly not right to show your anger or disleasure at her blog.
I can't imagine if you were the emperor in ancient china, should one person if found gulity, the whole family got executed.
Like wise if I have a problem with your dad, I would bark at his blog and not yours.
Come on, be a sport mate. Look outside the box!!
We should learn from the past, present and looking forward for better future. We are facing ruination of our Earth globally. If we can’t manage our only home the Earth what make this people think and talk blab...blab…blab. The bio fuel initiatives have back flash resulting in famine with the sky rocketing prices of the much needed food for mankind. This had been prophesied that man will bring his fellow man to his own injuries. Have no way out and only to escape is God intervention. Ponder about this please….
ReplyDeleteDoes it not seem like as if they now have got you..got us all bloggers finally? Keep pounding us with the same reruns over and over again until we give up. Then they move on to their usual business.
ReplyDeleteWhat many feel might just be music to their ears after all.
Dear Auntie Marina,
ReplyDeleteI'm doing the same too since the a couple of weeks ago.
I see no point of listening to either side because they sounded very much like the scripts in the latin or korean soap opera. Better watch those GENUINE drama in TV, at least they're better looking people, nice view to watch...
Plus, I have so many other things to worry about in life - Period.
Yes! I agree with U. remember what kahlil gibran wrote in his garden of prophet that "Pity the nation that acclaims the bully as hero, and that deems the glittering conqueror bountiful. “Pity the nation that welcomes its new ruler with trumpetings, and farewells him with hootings, only to welcome another with trumpetings again." and pity the nation whose politician use DIRTY POLITIC as the way get what they want..
ReplyDeleteagreed, i have stopped watching news and surfing the mainstream media, if at all, i start reading papers from back, which has stopped since Euro has finished!! may Allah bless us ;)
ReplyDeleteTo Marina:
ReplyDeleteAll you well-to-do/rich people want to talk so much about suffering lah, got family to take care lah. You think the suffering rakyat got no family to take care is it?
Fish price is RM20 - RM40 a kilo. Can you imagine, now basmati rice price is RM8 each kilo. In Australia, my friend say basmati rice is AUS1.70 (RM5.10) a kilo! Even in an high-income country like Australia rice price is lower than in Malaysia??
How are all the poor people who earn RM1000 a month with wife and children going to feed themselves lah? All those estate people, all the poor urban people, and all the rural people… have you not any pity for these people, how they must be struggling to even give their children proper decent food?? They cannot even think about buying a cake for their children’s birthday! Wait, they cannot afford to even browse boutique shops!
To all you people who say don't talk about politics:
If don't want to kena politics, then you also don't talk about politics lah. If refer to political matter, then you have to berani to kena fire about politics also, whether Dr. Mahathir or not, must berani kena. This is what blogging if about. Have to accept it. Don't complain. There is so much injustice and the ordinary rakyat is angry.
Also don't just blame the current leaders lah. Everyone also say "Abdullah Badawi this, Abdullah Badawi that." Hello, everything all start from long time ago okay! Things cannot go bad just overnight. 4 years Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Malaysia can hancur meh? Come on lah! Don't be naive. Even if Abdullah Badawi did wrong, don't just blame Abdullah Badawi alone for the current situation.
Before Abdullah Badawi's time itself all the ular-ular politic already take all our public money in billions and put it away overseas banks, and buy properties in Australia and New Zealand. I just talk about one okay? How come Muhammad Muhammad Taib, normal minister, can carry bag with a million dollars in Australia and can buy property in New Zealand? Who was prime minister when all this corruption was happily going on? So that old prime minister shouldn't talk too much also! We rakyat are suffering like crazy thanks to all you politicians, then this old man want to condemn Abdullah Badawi like he is a pure saint! Come on lah!
I recently had a baby and at a late age too.'Recently retired' to be a 'domestic engineer' i.e house wife/stay at home mom.I regret not the decision to do so at all for the sake of the wellbeing of my precious little blessing.Deep down many a time the feeling comes creeping in that the timing was just not right as we are feeling a huge pinch on the wallets and the bank accounts.
ReplyDeleteI would put us is in 'middle' income bracket and by the time we have paid the rent, car loan, utilities, insurance, monthly checkup for baby, household expense we are in the 'NO' income bracket. Seriously-how do we response to the call of change your lifestyle, save, spend less.I am spending more on groceries not because we are eating more although there is another addition to my family but because the price of things are escalating.I can hardly save cause there isn't much left after the bills are paid and we have indeed changed our lifestyle from living to barely making it.
We do not go on holidays. For the first time this year, I didn't get birthday gifts for any of our family members. In fact we didn't even go out for a meal for our wedding anniversary yesterday.
This is the real situation of the rakyat but what is most importantly on the front pages of the newspaper 'lies, sex and video-tape'.
I am glad for small blessing like not having the time to a leisurely read of the paper cause my baby needs my attention even more and that she is still a baby otherwise how do I explain to her politely what'sodomy' means.
Yes..DPMM!Go on strike and never bother again about anything else! Some people here still needs your opinions on political matters, you know!
