Umno Youth members urged to join NGOs
KUANTAN, April 26 - Umno Youth members have been urged to join at least one non-governmental organisation (NGO) in an effort to get closer to the people.
Deputy chief Datuk Razali Ibrahim said this would make them understand the problems and wants of people in their respective areas.
"Youth members must not only move in their political circle but must also be involved in social activities to get closer to the people," he said at an autism awareness programme here today.
Razali who is also Deputy Youth and Sports Minister said the proposal would be discussed at a course for youth leaders at Janda Baik, Bentong, next week.
He said although Umno youth members had been involved with NGOs, their presence was not that evident. - Bernama

Hmmm.....which NGOs I wonder? Pink Triangle Foundation? National Cancer Society? PS The Children? Suaram?
Or more like Persatuan Pengguna Islam Malaysia and suchlike?
And do they come in and say "Hi, I'm from UMNO Youth! Make me your President!"?

being in AFS, an NGO I felt that the Persatuan Pengguna and whatever that has to do with Islamic movement are somewhat nonsense and moving away from the focus of Islam - as in they are not promoting Islamic values, but instead promoting their goodie whenever something is wrong in the country. Recently, I saw in the news (which I hardly ever watch or even want to) regarding some NGO making report to the police about come blog comments insulting the Royalty in RPK's blog.
Now, remember back then about the Terengganu's issue last year. And who is the Sultan there. The current King isn't it?
I'm not related to any main royal bloodlines, but I was told I'm connected in distance. However, I see there are better things these kind of NGO could do such as going towards the poor and building them better homes and giving the children better education. Not quacking outside police station and court house over nonsenses.
I hope I shall be safe from writing this and create no other issue and truly apology if any other commenters affected with what my thoughts of these.
you really don't like UMNO, do you?
I think they want their people to infiltrate all these pesky NGO's (like Reporters Without Borders) with international affiliations that report "UNFAIRLY" on the Govt's deeds and misdeeds and are "Biased" and "Interfere in our Internal Affairs!".
No, they don't want the hard work of Pink Triangle, Cancer Society, WWLF, Suaram, Oxfam etc.
Then we will end up like the Trade Unions in S'pore where they represent the Govt against the workers interest, and not the workers who pay Union Subs!
Rememeber what happened in Russia? That's the next move!

Those rabble rousers called UMNO Youth aka Mat Rempit sympathisers will join NGOs to participate in the AGM with the sole aim to knock up members while kicking and screaming and manhandling women as well as threatening the men.
Well, I say bring them on!
What the deputy chief really meant was for his members to infiltrate the NGOs so that the latter may be made to echo the stand of the party.
Wonderful! The foremost intention in joining the NGOs is to get political mileage and not to work for the cause of the NGOs. For that reason, they should join NGOs whose mission is to gain political mileage for Umno. Does Belia 4B count?
SIS, perhaps..
;D
Wow. The pirates are coming. They are going to hijack the NGOs.
That will be the day when they support all those things..
I would like to share what I had observed during one of the Budget 2008 meeting for NGOs..
A representative who fell asleep and mind you he is snoring..*gasp* did i mentioned he is also obese???
can you believe it if i say this...
HE IS FROM THE MINISTRY OF YOUTH & SPORTS.....
A spoonful of reality for us Malaysians...
MALAYSIAN BOLEH!!
UMNO IN NGO??? TAK PAYAH LA.. SUDAH CUKUP BUANG MASA RAKYAT~
Hehe... I think the NGOs that you guys are in should take advantage of this call.
Invite more and more UMNO Youths to join and tell them that they're always welcome to help promote such causes (of course, they could bring in more donations for such causes too), as long as they're not in the NGOs for cool-sounding positions. No game of musical-chairs, please.
Who knows.. it might help develop UMNO Youths to become more gender-sensitive, democratic-minded, environmental-friendly etc... :)
AIDS foundation perhaps?
Attended a meeting once, we want to form a support group. One ministry officer speech during the opening ceremony"kebanyakan NGO hanyalah tahu untuk mencari kesalahan kerajaan". Everybody was surprise as we were talking about the handicap not political issues!!
