Female reps accuse DAP and PKR of sexual harassment
IPOH: Several Barisan Nasional female assemblymen and their independent comrade Hee Yit Foong have claimed that they were manhandled by DAP and PKR assemblymen during Thursday’s assembly sitting.
The group claimed that the fracas that ensued left them fatigued with body aches and that the physical scuffle was tantamount to sexual harassment. (oh the poor ladies...)
Sungai Rapat assemblyman Datuk Hamidah Osman said that Barisan’s five female representatives, including herself, became victims of vicious attacks when they tried to protect Hee from being harassed by the Opposition.
“There were definitely elements of sexual harassment because they came and grabbed us from the back,” she said yesterday, adding that she might lodge a police report. (Oh no, really? Luckily it wasn't from the front!)
Barisan side: (From left) Hamidah, Hee, Datuk Rusnah Kassim and Datuk Siti Salmah Mat Jusak explaining how they were manhandled during the Perak State Assembly sitting on Thursday. They, however, stressed that PAS assemblymen had been very polite and well behaved throughout the sitting and even thanked them for staying out of the drama.
Hamidah said that it was clear the Barisan representatives were the victims because the ruckus only took place on the Barisan side of the hall.
“This shows that they had been the ones to attack us. Naturally, we had to respond in self-defence. None of our assemblymen had crossed over to their side,” she said.
Hee said that her former colleagues from DAP had not just hurled rude words at her but nearly slammed the hard-cover Standing Orders into her face.
“I have the book which contains the signature of the person who owns it,” she said, adding that she might lodge a police report.
Meanwhile, principal assistant to the State Secretary (management services division) Shamshuzaman Sulaiman said about 10 microphones were damaged and a large flowerpot smashed during the chaos.
A number of microphones on the tables had been pulled out during the melee.
He said the flower pot was shattered when policemen were dragging former Speaker V. Sivakumar out of the House. (They're more concerned about the flowerpot than a person???)
He said the State Secretariat would have to discuss with the Public Works Department on the repairs.
Hamidah told reporters yesterday that she saw Pasir Pinji assemblyman Thomas Su damaging the microphones.
“He broke at least three microphones. I saw him doing it right in front of me,” she claimed. (as she stamped her foot on the ground, hands on hips..)
Kampung Gajah assemblyman Dr Wan Norashikin Wan Noordin claimed that Su had even shoved her hands aside when she tried to protect the microphone. (oh my!!!)
“I was trying to allow the new Speaker (Datuk R. Ganesan) to address the House but Su pushed my hands away and broke the microphone.
“When we moved the Speaker to a different block, he (Su) did the same thing,” she said.
When contacted, Su said: “Well, there was a tussle and the situation was so chaotic. Who knows, they (Barisan assemblymen) could have been the ones who broke them.”

First of all, a definition of sexual harassment in the Malaysian Labour Laws:
4. SEXUAL HARRASSMENT
4.1 What Is Sexual Harassment?
- Sexual harassment means any unwelcome verbal, non-verbal, visual, psychological or physical conduct of a sexual nature that might, on reasonable grounds, be perceived by the victim as placing a condition of a sexual nature on his or her employment because of his or her sex.
- Sexual harassment may also consist of an unwelcome verbal, non-verbal, psychological or physical conduct of sexual nature that might, on reasonable grounds, be perceived by the victim as an insult or humiliation, or a threat to his or her well-being, and has no connection with his or her employment.
- Sexual harassment in the office includes work related harassment which happens outside the office. Such work related harassment may includes situations taking place at work-related social gathering or functions, conferences, workshop or training sessions and during work assignments outside the office.
- Sexual harassment in the course of work-related travel is also considered sexual harassment in the office. Where sexual harassment occurs as a result of employment responsibilities or relationship over the phone and through electronic media, it is also considered sexual harassment in the office.
So it is entirely offensive to me that these women are claiming that they were sexually harassed in the State Assembly when obviously it doesn't meet this definition. What's more, I wonder if they would support a Sexual Harassment Law if it ever came up, especially given that some of their male colleagues would probably pooh-pooh it.
Honestly, this is called trying to capitalise on something which wasn't there. Give me a break!

haha funny incident
Sorry to say lah these lady Aduns don't have the kind of bods and looks that would get a rise from hot dough in a sex maniac's pants!
Groped and manhandled from behind? They should be so lucky, especially that spinster who switched camps all for th eprice of a Camry!
http://donplaypuks.blogspot.com
They called this sexual harassment ??? .... more like wishful thinking ... eh? Ladies ?
I wouldn't touch these street walker with a cattle prod and I doubt the PR Adun want to either. I think after the fracas, all the adun will "samak" their hand if ever they accidentally touch them. I know I would. Anyone has an "Eyemo" for me to cleanse my eyes? MM, can you take out the photos of these street walker? I feel so violated! Urghhh! Maybe I can sue them for giving me nightmares! Maybe not, I don't want unclean money!
The Perak State Assembly
It has become a disgrace
To all Perakians and Malaysians
When the chaotic affairs erupted
Follow orders they don't
They make the House into an auction
Calling for bids on the chair
When orders cited ignore every one of them
Now when the dust has settled
The women claimed sexual harassment
Hello really true in the House?
When Speaker is forcibly removed
And these female representatives worry about their own dignity
Video clip on Hee Yit Foong
She is ready with her pepper spray
Holding it in her palm ready to attack
To me she has preplanned in advance
Now claiming sexual harrasment......
The dignity of the House Assembly
I feel sad when democracy dies that day
When rules and laws totally ignored
Where will the ordinary people think?
And the female reps worry about their dignity
They should worry about the dignity of the House
And the economy derailing the country
And people are out of jobs
And democracy
As a member of both the Society for the Protection Of Ostentatious Flowerpots (SPOOF) and Society for Preventing Abuse of Microphones (SPAM), I strongly protest the blatant misrepresentation of unfortunate events that transpired during the May 7th Perak State Disassembly.
It is clear that members of both SPOOF and SPAM were the real victims here, and NOT those ladies claiming to have been sexually harassed.
We will collectively take this up with the Bureau of Universally Laconic, Lame and Sinister Hindrances to International Transparency, at the soonest convenient time, or sooner if it is more convenient, to file an affidavit of deploration.
May the farce be with us all...
WHen Bung Mokhtar and the likes make remarks about bocor, sudah kahwin ke belum etc, where were these people? When a fellow female from BN put up entire billboards containing sexual overtones to ridicule Teresa Kok, where were Hamidah and co? Now they acting all perasan that they were being groped with sexuallly-motivated intentions.
By the way, wasn't Hamidah Osman the one who said in the Perak State Assembly, kalau jumpa India dengan ular, bunuh India dulu. The BN-appointed speaker R.Ganesan should protest against Hamidah. In fact, we should all protest against Hamidah's explicitly racist statement regardless of whether we're Indian.
assalamualaikum
i think the ladies are trying to distract the whole issue.
for barisan members,if you want the rakyat's support, please don't play with petty issues.
Helllloooo Hee! Please go to the mirror and look at yourself! sexually harassed??? you gotta be kidding us!
From our understanding, the State Assembly itself have been harassed by BN!
Actually I would like very much putting my hands around Ms Hee's ............................ neck ????.
;-P
Don't be too cynical.
This time you are wrong and they are right.
I follwed the event all morning through the video.
The attacker all morning were Pakatan Rakyat, particularly DAP/PKR.
You don't witness the incident to make such comment. Listen to the eye witness la.
My Oh my, I would rather DIY than sexually harassing any of those old BN ....sorry, can't find a word to describe them. Even the F word is too kind for them, especially the OKU one.
They gotta be kidding me. I'll give all of them a 10 mile wide berth. LOLLLL.
Nobody wants to harass these ugly women, who are both ugly in heart and at their exterior!
Hee, shame on you for your continuous lies. You have no shame.
what about these 4 hotties' view on RAPE of democracy in Perak?
Never for the life of me would I ever thought that you would not defend ladies against the men.
Don't you think the PKR men should be confronting the BN men instead of the BN ladies?
BN gila kuasa and PR mabuk kuasa, that I can understand. That is why they are politicians.
But harrassing women is pure and true cowardice!
Bring it on Babes in Barisan Nasional. Follow the NGOs and lodge Police Reports.
Enjoy the game and fun.
It shows the Kampong Mentality.
Hoe, Hoe, Hoe!
What BN Whoredom galore!
The Hee-Hoe & Hoe-midah sure have delusions of grandeur don't they ...
- Quoted from Afuw

Well, she did said that. BECAUSE the then speaker was saying a such lame statement. "Ini dewan bukan Melayu punya lagi". That is why MIC Perak forgive her. Because they knew the real issue. Well not you obviously.

Well yes Marina, it is not under the Malaysian Labour Laws. Maybe, in the Syariah? Well 3 of them are Muslim Ladies.
They 'might' lodge police reports? why don't they just lodge the reports? Afraid that it may turn out to be false reports or are they waiting for evidence to be created before do? Someone should lodge a report that Hee Whore brought a concealed weapon in the form of a pepper spray canister into the state assembly which she did not use despite being supposedly groped and manhandled.
Sorry to say this. Call me a chauvunist if you wamt to. But Hee Yit Foong complaining of sexual harassment?? Wishful thinking on her part of if I am to believe her, then got to do a sanity check of the accused!!
Surely even the Malaysian cops, despite their default settings must be very amused!!
Look at the mirror first laa, they were harassing themselves by using the difference in gender for their own publicity and political advantages.
what about the one captured in video "L...au! L...au! L...au!"
Perhaps you should introduce these delectable ladies to real-life examples of women who were sexually harassed.
Then they might not be so flippant about bandying this term around to explain their own uncouth behaviour in the DUN.
... and they were wearing such sexy clothing too. Its no wonder they got groped
Makes a mockery of the ridiculous clothing standards that muslim MEN make on women because the MEN cant control themselves
The rightful Speaker Siva's microphone was switched off but the illegal speaker Ganesan's microphone was allegedly broken by YB Thomas Su. What's the difference between the two? If the rightful Speaker's microphone could be disabled, why can't the illegal speaker's microphone be broken?
Do you realise Marina the utterly prejudiced, sexist and rude comments that your posting has invited?
Not unlike the attitude of the ADUNs and MPs that your commenters are so critical of!
This is the level of thinking that ALLMALAYSIANS are aspiring to!
Do watch the utube on Malaysiakini.Tv and see who the real culprits are and do read ninitalk's posting on this!
Not these poor ladies for God's sake!
Those stupid female ADUNs from BN and BN friendy should look at the CCTV in the Assembly to prove the male PR ADUN did really manhandled them.
Don't just talk get the proof and sue the PR ADUN if really they had purposely laid they hands on them.
Way to go Marina Mahathir!
I am very sure you wont mind being grabbed by men from the back as you might prefer being done from the front. But these ladies do mind.
What ever happened Thursday in the assembly, it is uncalled for. Their actions could not be tolerated by the voters who voted them in. Luckily there no chairs being thrown at each other. The ADUNs should have acted more responsibly. With all that ruckus, we won't know for sure what had happened.
Mock all you want at their claims if that pleases you.
Why suddenly UMNO ladies concerned about sexual harrasment? When MP's in the past talk about period and other sexual connotations aimed toward female opposition members in Parliament, these UMNO ladies keep quiet like mice.
If you all are sincere, you should have supported the DAP women who were "sexually harrassed" in Parliament as the harrassment were against the whole female race in general.
So why the double standards?
Yes Nini, I do realise that some of the comments are unkind towards females and disabled persons. I have rejected some of the more extreme ones.
But I do object to the hijacking of a genuine women's issue, sexual harassment, by politicians who would otherwise not be concerned about this issue at all. The test would be if any of their own colleagues were ever accused of such harassment and what their reaction would be to that. At the moment this sounds rather self-serving. Was there any difference between the harassment of the men and theirs? Was theirs of a sexual nature? This hijacking of the issue will, I feel, do a lot of harm to real advocacy against sexual harassment which we have been working on all this time because it trivialises it.
But yes, all you guys, you may not like these women but do refrain from insulting women in general.Sexual harassment is about power, not about looks.
Marina,
What an intelligent post.
You have cleverly exposed the fakes!
As far as I know pretty sexy women are the ones targeted by uncivil men. But who the hell, in his wildest dreams, would contemplate sexually abusing these three 'mak ciks' who don't have any sex appeal?????
I am in 100% agreement with the logical comments made by Caravanserai:
//The dignity of the House Assembly ... When rules and laws totally ignored ... And the female reps worry about their dignity ... They should worry about the dignity of the House ...//
Here is another interesting statement highlighted and commented by MarinaM: //“There were definitely elements of sexual harassment because they came and grabbed us from the back,” she said yesterday, adding that she might lodge a police report. (Oh no, really? Luckily it wasn't from the front!)// Wakaka, Kekeke ... Hehehe ... This was how I laughed after reading this paragraph in Marina's lastest entry in her blog. Yes, they were so lucky that it wasn't from the front!! Or else?? OMG ... more to laugh!!
Thank you Marina, for your good humour and your indepth understanding of the fiasco in the Perak State Assembly.
In the minds of those sexually harassed women in the Perak State Assembly, they knew very well that anything to do with SEX will sell like hot cake. Hence, the needs to inclcude elements of sexual harassment to cook up their story so that people who read their news will forget about the dignity of the House or the dignity of the elected Speaker. In fact, Speaker V. Sivakumar was also sexually harrassed by some rough men who left him fatigued with body aches all over....
Now, the four women whose picture appeared in the blog, please tell me, using your common sense, dignity is more important in nation building or sexual harrassment and body aches??
I am feeling sorry for Malaysia that the quality of the BN's Perak State Assemblywomen is so low ..... Sad, sad, sad indeed!! May Allah bless Malaysia, please?
Sexual heerassment. Not in a thousand years. Hee! Hee! Hee!
Yeah and Marina could join PKR!
There is nothing like adding sex into any political equation . Besides fighting for ones seat being snatched away ... those guys are thinking SEX !.
It's the Malaysian Culture. Be it in videos , pictures , gestures ,etc
Meanwhile I'm back to my favorite haunt ....Gutter Uncensored anyone ? At least they "bare" the truth there ! .
hi Aunty,
it’s extremely sad to see that many readers here agree with your view, but not so much because they too don’t see the case of sexual harassment, rather they think the above women are too kurap to even be sexually harassed. it’s the kind of lowbrow shit that gets in the way of civilization.
To moisture, I do know what was going on when Hamidah Osman made the ular remark. Although the speaker was a bit lame in making that remark, isn't the message if his statement right? The dewan is supposed to belong to all, regardless of whether one is Melayu, Cina, India, Siam, Orang Asli etc. However, to retort with a racist statement about Indians is quite another thing. In a way, it shows that Hamidah thought that the dewan belonged to Melayu and felt that she had to correct the speaker by making a racist statement and prove her ketuanan.
Imagine if the Penang speaker said, ini dewan bukan Cina yang punya and then some Chinese ADUN stood up and retorted with something racist against the Malay race that had nothing to do with the situation like, say, kalau jumpa Melayu dengan ular, bunuh Melayu dulu baru bunuh ular, would you say the Chinese ADUN was right in saying it, moisture?
By the way, moisture, MIC Peraks forgiveness is not an indication at all as to whether Hamidah's statement was racist against Indians, whatever the situation. It was MIC who blamed the illiterate bonded Indian estate workers who are treated like slaves for their own helplessness because they like to get drunk, according to MIC. Never mind the bonded workers are uneducated and have never been to the nearest town and as such have no way of knowing how to improve their lives.
MIC will forgive Hamidah even if she said Samy Vellu makan taik lembu or MIC semua makan taik kambing.
juanajaafar, it's true that sexual harassment does not depend on whether one is hot or kurap. Like Marina said, it's a out power not looks. In any case, some of us may think the female ADUNs here are kurap but some others might find them attractive, which is besides the point.
In these ADUNs' case, they're clearly cooking it up for political mileage and their ploy ridicules genuine sexual harassment cases and twists the meaning of sexual harassment. Already our society is not as enlightened as we would like them to be when it comes to sexual harassment. These women's misuse of the term sexual harassment will only add to misunderstanding in the society on this issue.
There were so much scuffling then, I think both male and female, BN and PR politicians have been "manhandled" (another sexist verb) or hurt in some way...(Speaker Sivakumar probably suffered the worst of it)
The BN female MPs capitalised on this "opportunity" well but I doubt they realised how much they've belittled sexual harassment by doing this. To them, it's probably just another chance to demonise the PR aduns in the rakyat's eyes, and further "legitimatise" BN's forceful tookover of the Perak assembly. And so the mainstream media played along with them.
Hopefully the women's groups would come out with a statement to clarify the issue.
hi, Awful.
ya, looks like the women up here are trying to get PR on anything they can think of, including sexual harassment. i'm not arguing against that.
my comment was along the same lines as ninitalk's [just read her comment and MM's reply to her].
if the women's statement re sexual harassment is erroneous, whack them on that and not - as you agree - whack them for being unattractive [whatever that means].
Tahniah Marina
They love you! Tulisan yang hebat.
I wonder, what if this happened to Bonda Hasmah.
Sunnyneh, I am sure, she would love to!
It is quite sad that the barisan ladies tried to use the 'weakness' postion to spin that they are the victim. What was their reaction when Teresa was verbally abused? Or even Eli?
Hee is caught lying about the pepper spray episode and has little integrity left. the rest of the ladies are just accusing, but am not even sure that is is of any truth.
If the DAP and PKR guys did really do it, I can only sympathize with the guys. They've got poor taste!!! Heeheehee...
Ladies and gentlemen .... bear witness to THE RAPE OF PERAK !
Pakteh Adam, first of all, my mother would not be involved in such an undignified fracas.
Secondly, if she were manhandled at any event, she would certainly complain but she would not have a press conference and call it sexual harassment. My Mum treats the issue of sexual harassment very seriously and would never exploit it for political purposes. She certainly has strong views about any men, of whatever political affiliation, who treat women with disrespect.
When brains were given out, looks like these 4 as well as those who "cooked" up the plot, received the perverted and flawed versions! Its absolutely amazing, the twisted and dastardly ideas they are capable of. I would not want to be in the shoes of anyone whom these 4 and their "Think Tank" are gunning for.
DearMM,
I read with great sadness and dismay the report below on NST online.
While the politicians are busy fighting each other on petty one-upmanship,
a poor your girls life has been ruined....permenantly.
Why can't the leaders who the rakyat elected, get on with their job?
Is it too hard to expect that our citizens are fundamentally safe?
How many more cases of rape, snatch theft, crime must we read before any action is taken.
Let's rise above stupidity of who said what, and who is more religious than the other.
Spare a thought for the young girl below.
I am sad to be a Malaysian. No...I am utterly ashaned to be a Malaysian because we have failed
to protect our citizens. We have failed and we need leadership....decisive leadership to move us out
of this darkness of hate, crime and jealousy.
Are there any good leaders out there? Will someone step up??
SUBANG JAYA: All she wanted was to go from SS14 to SS15 to meet a friend, but the short trip turned into a nightmare when she was assaulted and raped by a taxi driver.
The 17-year-old girl had hailed a taxi on Thursday about 3pm to meet a friend in SS15 here.
But the taxi driver drove her around Subang Jaya and Shah Alam before stopping in Kelana Jaya.
He then ordered the girl to remove her blouse and skirt.
As the girl fumbled with her clothes, she managed to speed dial her friend on her mobile phone.
Her friend heard the taxi driver ordering the girl to hurry up with the undressing.
The terrified girl offered the taxi driver her mobile phone and money but he refused and insisted she undress.
"When she refused, the taxi driver slapped and beat her then ripped off her clothes," said a police source.
Although the taxi was parked near a condominium, nobody came to the victim's aid as the windows were tinted.
The friend, in the meantime, contacted the girl's elder sister, who rushed to the police station.
The taxi driver later dropped the girl by the roadside and sped off.
A passer-by took the girl to a hospital where medical examination confirmed she had been raped.
She was unable to provide any information about the suspect except that he had tattoos on both shoulders, one of which was of a scorpion.
Selangor police chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar declined comment.
Sexual harassment? Those Makciks and aunties? No look. Too old. I am gonna spew
Hi juanajaafar, point taken. I apologise for any misunderstanding.
By the way, my name is Afuw - one of the 99 names of Allah - as in Abdul 'Afuw (slave of the one who pardons).
Cheers.
I agree with Marina's point of view in this matter. The use of sexual harassment allegation is definitely an exorbitant exploitation for what had happened. The future of Perak is in peril, and these 4 ladies are complaining on their garments getting ruffled? What about Speaker Sivakumar being hauled out physically like a criminal? Mind you the court has yet to make a final decision on he legitimacy of the new speaker. Both sides need to back off and give the power back to the people to decide. This is the most appropriate and neutral stand anyone can make.
pakteh adam, if she did friend friend with Anwar, I wonder how our dear Tun would react?
astaghfirullah ... Afuw, i beg your pardon! my eyes kekok after midnight. so sorry about that. Afuw is not awful!
No worries juanajaafar :)
Alahai! Why lah so many commenters ruffled up by Marina's teasing of those 4 ladies? All the more when it is THOSE four women, not just any women but them troublemakers in Perak.
The Chinese one sold her soul to Najib for the price of a Camry, Hamidah is a closet racist, whereas the other two are just tagging along and hoping to be rewarded with some plum posts later on.
And frankly, I'm not the least bit surprised with the responses. Just go to M'sianInsider and RPK's site, look for any posts concerning Hee Yit Foong and see the vitriol against her. Some of that anger have landed in Marina's site, that's all.
I find this ridiculous. When these ladies joined in the fracas in the dewan that day, they have put themselves on equal footing with their male colleagues. They should know that things would get out of hand, there may be body contact when the pushing & jolting started. Well, Hee came prepared with a pepper spray, so she must have expected to defend herself when things gets rough? Pepper spray as a defense weapon?
But why cry sexual harassment when they walked into the wolves' liar (when they joined in the pushing) and placed themselves at the risk of being pushed or touched unintentionally by their male colleagues?
It's just like walking into a porn shop, well knowing the shop displays explicit sex materials, and later you complained you are sexually harassed by the explicit display of nudity in the shop!
Ridiculous, isn't it?
u claim to be champion of women, equal rights, etc.(if u deny this u are hypocrite) but how can u ridicule this incident?
u are simply against anything u dont like. u are worst than govt or opposition. at least they have some principle. u are a self indulgent whore.
Hello,...In Malysia..most of the rakyat are Malays and full of adab and sopan santun.
We are not toooo open minded,...here,...in Malaysia even a simple touch we could consider as gangguan sexual!...other than that...In ISlam tooo!...A 'bukan muhrim' cannot contact each other!!!
Back to our ISLAM...(btw,..I'm UMNO okay)
I'm a Malay ...and could react same like what the ADUNs did!...
We are not spending many times outside Malaysia or getting married with 'Mat Salleh and so on' which make us soo open minded!
Please wiser while making judgements...ok!
