How come you don't really "shoot" at local issue these days? Fedup Already Ah?
ReplyDeleteI recommend Karen Armstrong's latest book to all Malaysians, Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life". Maybe should translate it to BM to reach as many people as possible. A great and revolutionary book!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your time finding the video. Related, Bill Maher's interview has a good point. But she addressed them all well, i must say, though i wish she would not impart too much anxiety delivering her points.

Joshua, local politics is same old same old to me. Besides I think we have lessons to learn from other countries if only we cared to.
ReplyDeleteUnit, she's not anxious, that's just Mona's style. Isn't it refreshing compared to our usual bland unanimated commentators? And she knows her stuff so well. Btw for more of Mona, go to her blog. The link is with her name above.
Mona Eltahawy makes an impassioned plea for the Palestinians.
ReplyDeleteHer passion is however disassociated from the history and the
facts on the ground. No one remembers the Israeli Gaza Settlers
that were thorn from their homes. For that, Israel was
rewarded with Qassam rockets falling on Sderot etc. Israel put up
with rocket attacks for 10 years begging the international
community not to turn a blind eye to Hamas before she responded.
Palestinians have to ask themselves what price they are willing
to pay to have a terrorist organization such as Hamas as their
government.
Per Judea and Samaria the settlements are not illegal. A legal
precedent was set at the San Remo Conference 1922 whereby 23%
of the west of the TransJordan i.e. Mandate of Palestine
was set aside by the British for a Jewish homeland. This was
witnessed by Emir Feisal (Iraq) and Abdullah Hussein (Jordan).
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Mandate_for_Palestine
UN Resolution 242 per left-wing ideologues disallows
'inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war'.
Technically, Judea and Samaria still belongs to the Trans-Jordan
not Palestine. Jordan has however given up claim on the land.
The historicity of Judea and Samaria as a Jewish homeland
is superfluous. Similarly, Malaysia cannot ask for the return
of 'Pulau Batu Puteh', whereas Malaysia did not lay claim
previously, allowed Singapore to build a lighthouse and change
her mind decades later.
To be fair the Golan Heights should be returned to Syria.
I'm sure terrorists would savor being able to hit any
part of Israel from that vantage point. I personally would
prefer that 3 faiths co-exist on a small plot of land that is
0.5% of the middle-east. If Palestinians became Israeli citizens
with 'distinct society status' like Quebecers are to Canada.
You would have peace tomorrow. The other option is to wipe
Israel of the map per Islamist ideology. Islamists don't
want a two state solution and Moderate Muslims have not
dealt with this issue because all Muslims worship from
the same Quran. Listen to Mosab Hassan Yousef who defected
from Hamas to the West (http://www.sonofhamas.com/).
The practice of 'Al-Takiya' may fool most of the world but the
notion of Qassam rockets being launched from the Golan Heights,
West Bank and Gaza is certainly a recipe for WWIII.
Marina, is the issue really about fairness or is it a conflict
of ideology?
Peace Be With You Marina in Jesus Name
Dear Datin, Politics is same old same old because you have chosen not to get into Parliament! If you were in Parliament, it would have been Bombastic! So Please Think About It..PLEASE!
ReplyDeleteMore than enough bombastic people in Parliament already, Joshua..
ReplyDeletei am of the opinion now that if our good lady goes go to Parliament, it would not do us much good either, because she would represent us, a minority, and/but majority rules.
ReplyDeletewhat is better i think is if we continue this track of promoting reason and compassion, and help her with liberating women thus achieving equality in the right sense.
that said, i still wish she'd go into politics, but wishful thinking had never served me well ever. so i had better stick to reason.
so it is better perhaps to help the government govern, and to help the people breathe when and where the government sucks all the oxygen out of our lives.
i wish to start a blog promoting science and reason. i want to do it as a means of earning a living. could someone help me please ? ( sponsors ). thank you kindly.
ReplyDelete@D,
ReplyDeleteon the matter of Jews and Muslims and ideology, something must have happened then that led to all this rather severe calls. i do not condone voilence, but when and where it happens, i want to know why.
what is the perpective of orthodox Jews as Jews on this planet ? please be honest.
Haisey Datin! Your Bombasticness is of a different kind and to make it even more interesting, let's have Lady Rose to stand for Parliament as well! Both of You would bring in all the Colours Into Parliament! We badly need brilliance and colour in Parliament!
ReplyDeleteWithout Dr.M and Uncle Sam, parliament is boring and soon it will come one day when Karpal Singh and Lim Kit Siang says goodbye and that would be the end of all colours in parliament!
*Congratulations*, Datin Paduka Marina!
ReplyDelete&
*Happy Women's day***

ReplyDelete'As any child knows, assalamualaikum means “peace be with you”. It is not a greeting patented by Muslims or owned by God.'
most children do not know. they were merely told to say it, an order to be followed, a commandment. and it is to be said to club members but not to non-muslims. ( i guess for non-muslims, peace is not to be wished. )
adults here do not really say it with its true meaning, they say it because there were ordered to say it when they were children. and so now they teach their children the same.
when their children do not follow, they get very upset. when other adults do not follow. they get upset, yet again. and when a non-muslim uses it, it hits breaking point in their flawed logic, and they feel being mocked even if there is no such intention.
it is a special call sign for this club, and it is patented ( without papers of course ). chinese and indians arent suppose to use it, they aren't suppose to use arabic, a sacred and exclusive language, for club members use only.
in this region, we normally use "apa khabar", the equivalent of "how are you" and this is pleasant in any language. "peace be upon you" sounds very alien to me, but i guess is common in the lands of alladin.
maybe we will see next some chinese and indian with serbans (turbans) and goatees and jubahs. it will be fun. the more the merrier i think.
is there any law against putting on popular outfit ? if i wish to wear orange like the bhuddist monks will i be breaking any law ? i don't think so.
so Marina, please do not give up on us just yet, i think the show has just begun.
Truly refreshing and passionate discussion. Thanks for sharing kak marina... I can understand about how u feel abt our local scenes when all ppl can debate about is rambutan/lychee or which word is exclusively for which religion. I asked myself how we come to such interesting topic in the first place ... I ask myself why are these ppl treating the symptoms n not the cause ? Do we not have anything else better to discuss ?
ReplyDeleteAs for D, history is a long long period of time, how sure are u that the facts n agreements that you qouted are the earliest ? And history are man made mind you. I m sure you hv seen new evidence sometimes popping up to challenge the so called latest evidence n if history or herstory is so damn precise all corners of the earth dont hv to quarrel with their neighbours.
Why cant we just forget abt the past his/herstory, take out some compassion , humanity n respect for fellow human being n share whats left on earth ? Do we need to wait for aliens ti attack us for us to come together ?
Sometimes best jugak sekali-sekala menyusu kera dihutan, tapi harap bayi ditangan jangan dilupakan :-). If rambutanistic parliament is not yur teh, how about pulling resources to to groom the next generation of thinkers , activists and revolutioners ... Hv a good weekend.
Marina,
ReplyDeleteIf I may respond to Keny Ryuu
There is a lot of miss information and obfuscation
on the facts between the Israel and Palestine issue.
I'm simply pointing out the facts on the ground
albeit from a pro-Israel side.
It is unfair to demonize Israel by implying that
Israel is devoid of humanity and respect. That is
simply not true. I'll be the first to admit that
the Palestinians are bearing the brunt of conflict
between Hamas and Israel. Israel had to dismantle the
military apparatus of Hamas that was using Qassam
rockets on its citizens. People died, that does not
excuse Israel. While Israel tries its best to avoid
casualties by dropping leaflets and phoning residents
to get out of harms way. Hamas does not do likewise
when launching Qassam rockets or infiltrating Israel
on suicide missions. The Palestinian checkpoints
protect Israeli (Jews, Arabs and Christians) from suicide
attacks from Hamas. Netanyahu had promised to loosen
blockades if the killings stopped and peace negotiations
resumed. Recently, a family in Itamar were butchered
by terrorists.

Is this an act of good faith that would lead to a peaceful
resolution?
Gaza is not a paradise. They are not eating lobster, caviar
or driving BMW's like their Sheik neighbours nor is it true
that they are starving to death. See for yourself on this
Aljazeera propaganda documentary.

Dear Datin Paduka, My Deepest Condolences to You and Your Family over the Passing of Your Beloved Aunty Tan Sri Datuk Paduka Dr.Saleha Mohd.Ali.
ReplyDeleteShe was such a gracious and elegant lady with remarkable strength. I've met her at your late Uncle's Home (Jaffar) and i've met her at GH while my late mum underwent Chemo. Met her too at the passing of her best friend, Archbishop Tan Sri Dominic Vendargon. She generated so much love, so much hope. Words just can't describe her, i'm lost for words.
Eternal Rest Grant Unto Her O Lord & Let YOUR Perpetual Light Shine Upon Her, May Her Soul Rest In Peace, Amen.
Dear Datin,
ReplyDeletemy condolences to you and family too.

@keny ryuu
count me in please, even if as a clerk.
Datin!!! Among all people! Thamby revealed the video! Gosh! ROTFL!!! What about his Thamby that did the same before?! ROTFL!!!
ReplyDeletedear D,
ReplyDeleteMy english not so powderful ...so please dont obfuscate me further lah :-p ...I am not demonizing Israel or anyone...I am demonising anyone using violence. violence /rockets.bombs are not the way to solve any problems (no matter how considerate you try to be like dropping leaflets or phamlets or brochures when you are about to drop bombs) or phoning people ..
but then again ..err like how many times you have seen them dropping leaflets out of the thousands of bombs dropped ? stats ? were u there yourself to collect all and every phamplets or brochures ? everytime ? did you get their calls everytime ? or your source is also secondary ?
what I am trying to say is that since you chose to stand on the pro-Israel side , I bet you can find something (somehow) to justify all their actions...after all if there is a will there is always a way, right ?
okay , one clip of ONE family in Itamar were butchered by terrorists. I mean , so ? compared to how many Palestinian families who died ? do you want me to provide you with the facts on the ground as well ?
do the statistics and maths please ? for every one video you shared ...I am sure others can find 10 from the other side of the stories. After all it is your story, their story , his story , her grandmother's story etc ..
...we need to understand that sometimes a video is just A section of a whole long story, also a video may be shot with certain intention (with clever editing ...everything is possible) to bring out a desired message ...
not sure why you talk about lobster and caviar which makes me very hungry now ...but please note that not everyone in their neighbouring Sheik countries live like that ...I have been to many cities (in Saudi Arabia esp and other Middle Eastern countries) (lived in Saudi as well) and you will be surpised that some live in houses worse than those in Gaza Youtube you kindly showed. so pls dont assume.
"an eye for an eye and the whole world will be blind"
since you mention Jesus's name...I am wondering when Jesus advocate using violence or killing people to solve a problem ..I thought if someobe slap you on the left cheek , you should offer your right cheek ,no ? He didnt ask you to slap them back or give them warning notice/brochures or ask you to call them before slapping them, did he ?
Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThe Zionist Form16 (an analogy). Damansara Heights is a housing enclave nestled on prime land in Kuala Lumpur. The houses are occupied and residents are of mixed ethnicities. The past five decades or so, representatives of a landless but powerful ethnic group had been writing in their journals and publishing in the media they control, that the houses are (a) unoccupied, (b) void of residents and (c) in a state of disrepair. Further, this ethnic group exacerbated its own cognitive dissonance by publishing that the prime real estate is theirs by a biblical covenant. The powerful media it owns solved its own dissonance and in time the whole country subscribed to the fabricated narrative of the ‘people-less housing estate’ by giving traction and fueling the ideological conviction of this ethnic group. In essence, the whole country had psychologically ‘eliminated the residents’ of the enclave well before the ethnic group entered the prime real-estate to forcibly take ‘vacant possession’.
ReplyDeleteJewish historian, Ilan Pappe, said:- “If one talks about nothingness in a place where there is plenty it can be willful ignorance. But if one talks about nothingness as a vision or undeniable reality, it is only a matter of power and opportunity before the vision becomes reality.”
