Taking a Break (literally)

Hi folks, was pretending to be Lionel Messi in an office futsal match the other day and made a mess of it. Fell and fractured my left wrist in a few places and had to have an operation to insert a titanium plate in my hand. So if you see someone who has a hand like Robocop, it's only me.

Of course this means I have to type with one hand which can be tiresome. So even less blogging, sorry. Luckily I just finished a very busy week where I had to speak five times at various events before I fell. Maybe it was just my body telling me I needed to take a break (ho, ho, pun, pun!).

Oh, and if you're wondering what I have to say about the OWC, see my column this Wednesday...:-)

  1. Whatever it is you have written about OWC, you got to read how this was reported in the NZHerald. My daughter linked me to it. It is so sanitised, like as if only nuns were going to read it. In comparison The Star's reporting of it might have got it reported to the censors there, and they do do their work! http://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/article.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=10730440

  3. Get well soon! And I look forward to your column on OWC. It sets back all the efforts of numerous women's rights organisations! I'd bet you'd be pretty upset about it =(

  4. Hahahahahaha! Father & Daughter Think they are Teenagers! Dua Kali Lima! Which is actually a good way of living positively.

OWC is conducting clases to teach wives to be better than first class prostitutes and Perak Mufti is in full support with a flirtatious smile! Both need to be Blasted from the face of the earth!

  5. Jesus! I can't Stop Laughing lah! You Datin Paduka As Naughty As Ever! People, read this below;

Not long ago, a male politician said the best Muslim wife is the one who would drop everything, undoubtedly even feeding the baby, every time hubby wants some nooky. He should be the patron saint of the OWC.

It does strike me as interesting that the guys who like to say these things are rarely the sort women would generally drop everything for. Do you think George Clooney ever has to even think about this?

I actually propose another club we women should join. It’s the Good Husband and Father Fan Club. Like any fan club, members will extol the virtues of the good husbands and fathers they know.

Hubbies who help at home and who do homework with their kids, for example, would qualify. If they are clean and smell nice, they would get lots of bonus points.

Each month there could be a Hubby and Father of the Month, and they would all compete for Hubby and Father of the Year.

And yes, their prowess in bed would also be a consideration.

  6. I loved today's piece in the Star. I've always thought civil servants should sign off "Saya yang memegang amanah". More accurate, no?

  7. Syahidah,

i always thought and i still think that the best job to have in Malaysia is being a civil servant. Syok Gila! Coffee Break extended to lunch. Work done at 4.15pm. Fridays, two hour lunch, return at 3pm, done at 4.15pm. You also get many perks and in some cases opportunity to make a side income. You can curi a nap or tutup je kaunter tu!

Teachers have the best life, they teach about 10 months in a year, kenduri like there's no 2morow!, jual Amway, Avon, & macam-macam yang boleh dijual.

Marking papers? there's a cover sheet you place on top of the students objective answers where even a kindergarten student can help you mark it.

Memang Best Kerja Kerajaan but the only thing is your salary is very low and off course lah after all the easy lifestyle the government gives you, you vote BN lah. Gratitude lah sikit! Hahahahaha!

  9. Dear Marina,

In the Hopes that Jesus heals your hand soon.

To Umayrah (Per Spat with Joshua)

I was merely wishing Marina a Happy Mother's Day
to begin with from my point of view. I admit, i am
a passionate follower of Christ. If that comes
    across as 'arrogance'. I'm sorry.

    Blessing In Jesus Name

Were you thinking of OWC when playing futsal......
Joking aside, to lessen pain and inflammation, apply aloe vera jel. Keep the leaf after plucking overnight before using, to prevent possible itchiness. InsyaAllah, mujarab. Take care and God bless.

  11. Marina,
Malaysia wants to be a high-income nation by 2015. And so we have decided to introduce the OWC to train more women to be first class prostitutes. what a plan! :)

  12. D,
Passionate or not is not the issue. The arrogance I was referring to was in respect of your disparaging remarks about other religion whilst extolling the virtues of your own.

Pls refrain from doing so in future. Also, pls check your facts before making comparisons like you did. Your facts were so grossly inaccurate.

    Apologies accepted though.
    Peace. :-)

  13. Umayrah,

ROTFL!!! Hahahahahahaha! Well Said! Some people have no respect for other religions & people, the utter sense of superiority over another which i find rather unbecoming. He doesn't even realize how he belittles one's religion couple with utmost aragonce and stupidity.

In the very first place, is this a place to do your fanatical denomination's drama of utter stupidity?

Hello?! Here we are gathered in Love for The Robocop hand & disgust towards the OWC!!!

  14. Hey Joshua, look up the real meaning of 'amanah'. If we practiced this sincerely then those long coffee breaks would not happen. This is what I was trying to suggest.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Syahidah,

I think true 'amanah' doesn't exsist in totality in anymore. May it did at my Grandparents & Parents days.

It's across the board, "amanah" memang dah lama hilang. I grew up with this, especially the stunts played at the government departments.

Use to it, blow up some steam & then sigh while singing "Malaysia O Tanah Airku..."

  22. My admiration for your support of Ambiga knows no bounds. Thank you.

The personal attack on her by Ibrahim Ali who called her "that bloody Hindu woman" was one issue.

But the words uttered by an unelected but sitting Prime Minister - "Who doesn't know Ambiga. She's the one who threatened Islam" - were calculated to stir up violence, racism and religious bigotry.

Lina Joy's right to legal representation is guaranteed by our Constitution. If it had not ben Ambiga, then some other M'sian lawyer would have had to defend Lina. Najib's stirring up "jihad' type sentiments is as shallow as they come.

It's a dangerous precedence set by PM Najib who should resign forthwith. His $100 million APCO spun 1 Malaysia is a complete fraud perpetrated on us and is now a complete shambles and in tatters.

If he does not resign, we should use all our endeavours to kick him out of office, yesterday!

  24. first of all , I hope Kak Marina is recovering soonest ...

I cant help everyday but think what is going through these people's head when they speak about Bersih...the following are something that I am still pondering -

    1) Taxi drivers, business man . trader and this and that business minded people can only think of is their money, their business ...? they must have been scared by certain party that something bad like in some countries might happen ...Thats our problem ..we are so negative ..but i cant blame them because they are to be blamed for mass producing narrow minded people who cant think rationally (most of the time) but good at producing goods , manufacturing goods , plant stuff etc etc etc but not able to think critically rationally....They rather earn money than ensuring the future of their children and grandchildren is brighter...this clearly shows how selfish some can be...

    2) Kak, rightly said in your column...we are so obsessed with what people think of us ...to the extend that we might be like the Emperor Without Clothes..oblivious to what actually people might think about us ...if I remember correctly we are not fairing that well in the corruption index, are we ? oppss a check on the transparency index shows malaysia on the 56th position (with score of 4.4) compared with say Singapore at the top spot with 9.3 score....so how the hell will Bersih tarnish our image may I ask ? http://www.transparency.org/policy_research/surveys_indices/cpi/2010/results

    3) For some clowns who wanted to stage another demonstration just to counter Bersih is outright childish and lack of substance. If they really are so obsessed by image, they should be worried how the world will be thinking about their immature actions. Well I cant blame them because they seemed desperate and so thirsty of visibility for visibility sake ...bak kata pepatah ...empty vessel makes the most noise...

    4) I have not read the stories about name calling by certain parties and also equating Datuk Ambiga as a threat to religion...Seems like the government is now using extremist tactic favoured by those extreme ulama or Al Qaeda ...anything you try to reason with them or challenge their thinking is = challenging the religion ...

    5) To equate us with other countries who recently secured their freedom is downright over simplified thinking by simple minded people ...( do I have to puke out the saying " YOU CANT COMPARE APPLE AND ORANGE?" ) ...are they not insulting the mentality and conscience of all malaysians ? It is high time the government have faith in us ...Malaysians do not like on tree tops by the way ...many of us got many many As in our exams by the way !!!! So we can think and wont be barbaric lah
