Hmmm......

Give Dr M chance to defend himself, says Karpal

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad should be given every opportunity to defend himself over the allegations made by High Court Judge Datuk Ian Chin, said DAP chairman Karpal Singh.

In a statement, Karpal Singh said, according to Justice Chin, Dr Mahathir had threatened judges in 1997 to decide in favour of the Government, and had sent judges to boot camp.

He said Justice Chin had made serious allegations against Dr Mahathir during proceedings in an election petition in Sibu.

"However, these allegations have been made by the judge under the cloak of absolute immunity. Justice Chin should not abuse the process of court to make disclosures condemning Dr Mahathir," he added.

He said Justice Chin should be brave enough to make statements against Dr Mahathir bereft of the cloak of absolute immunity to give the former premier an opportunity to take him on in a court of law.

"Dr Mahathir has now made certain allegations against Justice Chin and called for the setting up of a tribunal against him for judicial misconduct.H

"There should be no discrimination. The law is no respecter of persons," Karpal Singh said.

He said if Dr Mahathir's allegations had merit, then the necessary action should be taken against Justice Chin.

"Dr Mahathir has every right to pursue the allegations he has made."

Likewise, Karpal Singh said, the Government should not in any way act to give the perception to the public that Dr Mahathir no longer enjoyed the rights of a citizen to demand justice.

Well! Thank you, Mr Karpal!

(Should I duck? )

Meantime, I want to know the meaning of this...

Reps keep up heat on Speaker

IPOH: It was another fiery day for Perak State assembly Speaker V. Sivakumar who not only had to handle continued heckling by Barisan Nasional assemblymen but also had a question with racial overtones thrown at him.

The first 36 minutes of Question Time yesterday saw opposition assemblymen continuously standing up and asking him for the chance to speak, and raise issues.

One by Hamidah Osman (BN-Sungai Rapat) particularly earned the wrath of the Pakatan Rakyat assemblymen when she asked whether Sivakumar "agreed to disagree" with the well-known fable of whether a snake or a man from a certain racial community should be killed first.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What 'well-known' fable? Which community? What was the point of this? Who is this stupid woman?

  2. Ah...let me tell you whats been repeated to me many times over from the "best of my friends", meaning well of course, and my wife too, when in jest. Of course they always make it seem like as if they don't mean it. but I sure do know for a fact that this is factored. This part, honestly you can leave it and not censor. I'd rather everyone who does not know, does know and lets not be coy about it. but if you think its not for your blog..well, its your blog. And i shall respect that.

But basically the saying goes, when you see an Indian and a snake, kill the Indian first. Now, I believe it was the Chinese who probably used it first. But I realise the Malays too use it now.

But then again, I too do tell my Chinese friends and my wife that the only thing straight about them might be their hair. So..you see, the factoring of these sayings do somehow play a part in our decisions sometimes.

As for the Assembly woman who brought this up at the State Assembly, either she has had a transplant of her brains with what she excretes in her bottom, in which case it is rather understandable, or she is such a cruel bitch! I leave it to her to take her pick. Maybe it was a Thursday night and she was all excited about going home!

  5. Nostradamus Quatrains on Malaysie

In the year of the great games started by the Greeks
Hosted by the nation of heavenly emperors of times before
    In a land called Malaysie
    Great turbulence and strife engulf

A land where a Genghis Khan’s Descendant was shred to bits
Blown by the winds to the heavenly clouds
Where the accused are finally crowned
    Amid great trepidation and acrimony

Then arose among men of honor
A man of the faith of Mohammedans
Kings and Rulers let him reign
And a new nation was born

Great leaders bring forth divination and revelations
A land of many tribes divided was thus united
The color of men was blurred and lost
By great competition to give their best

Herein lies the destiny of men
Who showed the meaning of democracy and humanity
Religions and languages flourishes as times before
A land as peaceful as Shangri La

Malaysie, a stopping point of travelers must see
Back to the days of great Sultans and Rajas
Nations and men afar come to seek their wealth
Knowledge, trade and life flourishes as before

  6. This is of course a trap Dr.M would do well to avoid.

We know Karpal is not exactly interested in Dr.M's rights or welfare. He's of course hoping to get him in court and then subject him to intense questioning to embarrass him over all the various "issues."

As regards Hamidah Osman, the original saying is "If you see a Malayalee & a snake, kill the snake first." That part about 'Indian' is wrong!

  7. What I have concluded from all the ruckus in the Perak State assembly is that the BN opposition is just a bunch of time wasting fools. They are not interested in serious issues. What a dumb bunch and what a silly woman Hamidah Osman is. As a woman I am ashamed of her. Makes you wonder what kind of rubbish she is filling her childrens' brains with.

  8. Hi Marina,
    Salam sejahtera

Firstly, are you sure Karpal said that?

Secondly, are you really sure the ADUN being so naive and stupid?

Thirdly, and finally are you really really sure the media reported that?

    My tiny little unutilized brain conclude as follows;

Firstly, There is prawn beneath the noodles.Maybe a dash of wasabi too.

Secondly, My brain jammed, so I am unable to conclude. (She is just not even worth mentioning)Waste of my brain resources.

Thirdly, I don't really read comic book nowadays. (Gosh, you mean that is newspaper!)Am I bloody stupid!

The ADUN would have thought I killed three snakes with one stone?
(NAH, I would not even killed an ant, if I had a choice)

Marina, my apology for the twisted comment. Just need some fresh air. Too exhausted to even read or hear what's new everyday.

  12. Dear Marina & Bloggers,

I would not even want to mentioned that phrase.....from ADUN Hamidah.
It is such an insult to our civilized society.

The same goes to all politicians who spoke without using their brain and causes racial segregation and disharmony.

    Truly sick of racism.

  13. If you see an Indian and a snake, then you would be well advised to kill the Indian first. Hamida Osman (BN-Sungai Rapat) is not the first person to say this.

I am trying to turn this into a joke or something. No apology from Hamida Osman is needed because we need jokes to add some fun to life. I assure you that as we live in this world we would hear all kinds of statements. If you get preoccupied with these statements, then you would be wasting your time. But I am trying to turn this into a joke or something because they say that humor is a natural medicine.

Wait a minute, if you kill the Indian first, then who is going to teach you how to make roti canai?

Wait a minute, if you kill the Indian first, then are you going to make friends with the snake. I do not think that making friends with the snake will help.

Wait a minute, Dr.Mahathir Mohamed is half Indian. What do you do with a half Indian? You do not plan to kill half of him, do you?

Wait a minute, among other things India is known for snake charmers. If you kill the Indian, then who will charm the snake?

Wait a minute, you can have a conversation with an Indian but you cannot have a conversation with a snake.

Wait a minute, if you get stung by an Indian, you may live, but if you get stung by a snake, then depending on the type of snake, you may even die.

Wait a minute, may I remind Ms. Hamida Osman that if you need love, then an Indian can make love to you, but a snake cannot. Wait a minute. A snake can probably make love to you, but an Indian can give you children. Please do go to www.google.com and type the words THE TROUSER SNAKE.

If any of you readers have any jokes to add on, please do so. No apology from Ms. Hamida Osman is necessary. I like jokes.

  14. I kind of agree with donplaypuks that there is something sinister in Karpal's seeming support of Tun Mahathir's democratic rights to justice.

And did you read the 2 letters in NST earlier this week speaking up for Tun Mahathir's contributions to the nation's development?

It seems as though the currents are making an about turn from the anti Tun discourse in the media and elsewhere in the past few months to one that is nearer the "truth".

I applaud NST and Karpal for their new-found approach which is definitely more enlightened and less prejudiced.

I hope and pray there is no hidden motive/agenda and that it is not a ploy or strategy to garner support for some political move that is pending.

'If you see a Malayalee and a snake, kill the Malayalee first.'

I grew up in Kerala hearing "If you see a southerner and a snake , kill the southerner first." Mostly said by northern Malayalee's about their southern brothers!
This north south divide is within Kerala itself where a northerner will never give his daughter's hand in marriage to a southerner.

    Levelheaded said
    'Dr.Mahathir Mohamed is half Indian.'
The Mapillai muslims of northern(!)kerala are actually descendants of Arab traders from Yemen and Saudi Arabia - so technically Dr.Mahathir is not an Indian.

I do not think it is necessaty to further punish her as she has already apologised unreservedly.

If she is ought to be punish then SAMY should be punished first for his failure as a Party President!

At least she is brave enough to admit and apologise for her mistake rather than some politions.

    Has Samy ever apologise???

    Check out this link :

The photos shown was hamidah that invited your father. Hamidah was given warning by some of BN politicians of not trying to invite Tun, but she insisted though. It is rarely to find a lady like her.

Kebanyakan rakyat Malaysia mmg gemar menggemburkan benda yang buruk. Yang baik itu disenyapkan. Like this :

    ________________________

- MStar

  35. As regards to Ms.Hamida's ethnic joke about the snake and the Indian, well, as long as we have pedigree Malays, pedigree Chinese, and pedigree Indians, these ethnic jokes will continue. So, the solution is to increase the bi-racial population of Malaysia. To find out more about the necessity to increase the bi-racial population, please read on.

As far as I know public assistance programs alone cannot address the problem of disparity between the Malays and non-Malays. The public assistance programs of pre-1970’s was not successful. So from 1970-1990 they had the New Economic Policy which is also not successful and therefore there is a desire to continue it. Now some people want to introduce the Malaysian Economic Agenda. I have my reservations after so many failures. Therefore I say, try bi-racial. Many bi-racials have gotten ahead. While the public assistance to the needy continues, let us hope that the number of bi-racials increase too. That is, we should have a two-pronged attack to solve this problem of social and economic disparity between the Malays and non-Malays: on the one hand we should continue public assistance for the needy, and on the other hand we should amend the constitution to create two kinds of Malays (Muslim Malays and non-Muslim Malays) so that the number of bi-racials would increase. Trust me when I tell you that many bi-racials have gotten ahead. If the economic and social disparity between Malays and non-Malays continues, then ethnic jokes will continue which is unhealthy. The solution is, try bi-racial.

  36. 51 years later: Have we understood each other better?

    http://tangwengheng.blogspot.com/2008/07/51-years-later-have-we-understood-each.html

Apparently not. Otherwise, we would not have witnessed a prominent legislator for the Malay-majority Barisan Nasional coalition, Hamidah Osman, implying that Indians are worse than snakes in front of a State Assembly Speaker, the first Indian to hold such a post in Malaysia in her 51-year post-independence history.

Apparently not. Otherwise, we would have understood that cows are sacred to ~10% of Malaysian population and eating beef is haram for them. We would have avoided serving beef during multi-racial functions, or at the very least put up label saying that this particular food item contains beef.

Therefore, an unbiased review of syllabus and contents of History textbooks as well as that of Ethnic Relations module is timely and long overdue.
